As global warming becomes increasingly prominent, the environmental awareness of people also increases. Medium voltage switch devices have been increasingly used in the grid distribution system by lots of middle voltage users.

Medium voltage switch devices have been increasingly used in the grid distribution system by lots of middle voltage users.They are also the essential products of Strong Smart Grid, which relate directly to the safe and reliable operation of the grid. While the economy is developing sustainably and cities are expanding, medium voltage gas insulated switchgears (GIS), with merits such as small volume, free of maintenance, high reliability under harsh climates and notable economic benefits, have developed prosperously since 1990s, and the demand is also growing. However, the SF6 gas used in the middle voltage GISs is one of the six kinds contributing to the greenhouse effect, and is widely questioned. Therefore, scale production of GISs without / with less SF6 will increase the economy and provide excellent stability of performance and a structure of light weight simultaneously. It is an irreversible trend for metal-enclosed switchgears without / with less SF6 gas to take place of air-insulated and SF6 gas-insulated metal-enclosed switchgears.



For the above mentioned purpose, the switch manufacturing industry has worked hard for more than ten years seeking an environmentally friendly kind of substitutive gas. It’s been a significant research subject to study the properties of substitutive gas and develop middle voltage GISs without / with less SF6.


With their abundant R & D and manufacture experience on vacuum circuit breakers and fully enclosed GISs, the R & D team of Jilin Jinguan Electric Co., Ltd. has, based on the design concept of environmental protection and intelligence, developed the JGAIS series environmentally friendly gas-insulated metal-enclosed switchgears. Instead of SF6 gas, such switchgears use dry air as their insulation medium. The primary main circuit is enclosed a gas tank, which is welded with advanced robot welding technology and helium mass spectrometer leak detected. A vacuum arc chute of reliability and maturity is employed as the circuit breaker and the main on-off element of the load switch. All items mentioned above plus a uniquely designed three-location isolating switch make sure the operation and maintenance of the distribution network is safe and reliable.

1. Employs vacuum arc extinction technology and uses environmentally friendly dry air as the major insulating medium instead of SF6 gas;


2.The cabinet is designed to be fully enclosed and insulated without any exposed live parts and can therefore operate in severe environment for a long time;


3. The gas tank is designed to be zero gauge pressure with a protection grade of IP 67. The occurrence of leaks is reduced to almost none to significantly prevent the possibility of invasion of dust and damp;


4. The gas tank is designed to be zero gauge pressure, therefore it can run safely under zero gauge pressure and fulfill all related test standards.


5. An explosion-proof membrane is provided to the bottom of gas tank. In the case that the pressure increases due to internal faults, the membrane will explode to release the pressure and the gas will be discharged to the back to avoid damaging operators in front of the cabinet;


6.  By upper isolation, it is able to be grounded and closed with the arc extinguishing chamber, thus ensuring the safety and reliability.


7. The three phases at the disconnector fracture are independent and visible. Contactor positions are directly visible and provided with LED lighting;


8. The switch cabinet has passed the internal arcing test, IAC-AFL/20KA, 1S;


9. The structure is designed as standardized and modularized for the extension of circuits, exchange of units and alteration of plan;


10. The functions are completed by fundamental function units such as load switches and circuit breakers and typical function units such as enhancement cabinet, contact cabinet, PT cabinet and measure cabinet;


11. Fully modularization is fulfilled by plug-in type extension busbar through arbitrary combinations;


12. Small volume and small occupied area with the minimum volume for a single device to be: 450*905*1500 (mm).
